Espressive alternatives in 2026

Espressive was acquired by Resolve in September 2025. Compare 2026 alternatives to Barista: Harmony, Moveworks, Aisera, Atomicwork, Rezolve.ai and more.
Espressive, maker of the Barista virtual agent, was acquired by Resolve, an IT automation and orchestration company, in a deal announced on September 10, 2025. Resolve said it would fold Espressive's conversational AI into its own agents, RITA and Jarvis, and espressive.com now redirects to resolve.io. Teams reviewing Barista in 2026 can stay and move toward RITA, or switch. The strongest alternatives are Harmony (AI-native service desk with a system of record, in Slack and Teams), Moveworks (now part of ServiceNow), Aisera (now part of Automation Anywhere), Atomicwork, Rezolve.ai, Freshservice with Freddy AI, and ServiceNow ITSM.
What happened to Espressive and Barista
These are the facts as published, checked in October 2026:
- The acquisition. Resolve announced on September 10, 2025 that it had acquired Espressive. The release describes Barista as Espressive's GenAI virtual agent for employee questions, issues and requests, and says Espressive's conversational AI and LLM frameworks will be integrated into Resolve's platform to strengthen RITA (its resolution agent) and Jarvis (its workflow builder agent).
- The website. espressive.com returns a redirect to resolve.io. Resolve's homepage presents an IT automation and orchestration platform (AgentLab, Automation Vault, use cases such as DNS requests, firewall changes and VM provisioning) and does not mention Barista.
- Customer continuity. Neither the press release nor Resolve's news page says what happens to Barista customers, contracts or roadmap.
- Reviews. Gartner Peer Insights' Espressive Barista page now shows Resolve RITA, rated 4.4 from 19 ratings. Resolve as a whole is rated 4.6 on G2 from 47 reviews.
Why teams look for Espressive alternatives
- Roadmap uncertainty. Barista's future is not described publicly. A product absorbed into another platform often changes packaging, pricing or support at renewal, and buyers want options before that conversation.
- A shift in focus. Resolve's public positioning centers on IT and network operations automation. Teams that bought Barista for broad employee service (IT, HR, facilities) want to know that use case stays first.
- The intents to LLM transition. A recurring dislike on the Gartner page is the work of moving from an assistant built on intents to one built on retrieval and LLMs. One reviewer describes being asked to fix Barista and having to undo earlier intent work.
- Pricing visibility. Neither Espressive nor Resolve publishes prices, and G2 reviewers place Resolve in the highest perceived-cost tier with about four months to implement.
How we evaluated
We compared each option on: whether the AI resolves requests by acting in identity, device and SaaS systems (not only answering); Slack and Microsoft Teams support; whether a system of record (tickets, assets, approvals) sits behind the chat or the tool is an overlay; ownership and roadmap stability; and pricing as published. Sources are vendor pages, press releases and G2 or Gartner Peer Insights listings, checked in October 2026.
At a glance
| Tool | Best for | Slack and Teams | Overlay or system of record | Ownership | Pricing as published | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Harmony | Mid-market companies wanting resolution plus a system of record | Both | System of record, or alongside existing ITSM | Independent | Custom quote | G2 4.8 (80) |

| Aisera | Enterprises wanting broad AI across functions | Teams in customer examples | Overlay | Automation Anywhere (since Nov 2025) | Not published | G2 4.4 (146) |
| Atomicwork | AI-first ITSM with outcome pricing | Both | Either (also runs on ServiceNow or JSM) | Independent | From $25,000/yr | G2 4.0 (1) |
| Rezolve.ai | Organizations of 2,000+ employees | Both, Teams listed first | Either | Independent | Quote, per employee or fulfiller | G2 4.8 (38) |
| Freshservice with Freddy AI | ITIL suite with an AI agent | Both | System of record | Freshworks | $19 to $99 per agent/mo | G2 4.6 (1,363) |
| ServiceNow ITSM | Large enterprises | Not stated on the pricing page | System of record | ServiceNow | Quote | G2 4.5 (1,989) |
Staying with Resolve
Staying is a legitimate option. RITA integrates with Teams and Slack, ships five foundational workflows (password resets and account unlocks, access requests, software installs and licensing, email and collaboration issues, VPN troubleshooting), and logs every interaction. If your Barista deployment is mainly IT and your team values Resolve's broader automation, ask Resolve for a written migration path and price protection before renewal.
The alternatives
1. Harmony
Best for: 200 to 1,000 employee companies that want an AI agent in Slack and Teams that resolves IT and HR requests, with the system of record in the same product.
Strengths: The AI Service Desk Agent verifies identity, acts through integrations (MFA reset, password reset, application access with approvals, group membership, onboarding and offboarding, device recovery), and opens a ticket with full context only when a person is needed. Harmony is a system of record, not an overlay: assets, applications and SaaS licences, employee records and AI governance live in one platform, with 100+ prebuilt agents and 100+ integrations. Harmony generates the knowledge base from past tickets, which helps teams leaving an intent-based assistant. It integrates with ServiceNow, Freshservice and Jira Service Management tickets and can run alongside them. At Mammoth Brands, time to first response fell from 4 hours to 7 seconds, a customer-reported figure published by Harmony.
Limitations: No published per-seat pricing to self-serve; G2 reviewers ask for more flexible reporting and dashboard widgets; some integrations needed extra setup steps; a younger company (founded 2025).
Pricing: A custom quote scoped to company size and use. The core deployment includes the Slack and Teams agent, knowledge base generation, core integrations and support. Available through AWS Marketplace private offers.
Rating: G2 4.8 (80 reviews), Gartner Peer Insights 4.9 (32), Capterra 4.9 (19), checked October 21, 2026.
2. Moveworks
Best for: Large enterprises that keep ServiceNow or another ITSM and want an AI front door.
Strengths: Mature enterprise search and reasoning, 100+ languages, and deep ServiceNow ties. ServiceNow completed the acquisition on December 15, 2025; ServiceNow ITSM packages now include Moveworks for ITSM, and Moveworks remains available standalone.
Limitations: It is an overlay, so it needs an ITSM beneath it. G2 cons cite integration complexity, a learning curve and limits with non-ServiceNow platforms. For a former Barista customer it is also a second acquisition-driven roadmap. See Moveworks alternatives.
Pricing: Custom quote.
Rating: G2 4.4 (158 reviews).
3. Aisera
Best for: Enterprises wanting AI agents across IT, HR, finance and customer service on top of existing systems.
Strengths: AiseraGPT for AI Service Desk, voice bots, 100+ app integrations including ServiceNow and Zendesk, and customer stories reporting high auto-resolution. Automation Anywhere acquired Aisera (announced November 4, 2025) and committed to ongoing development and support.
Limitations: Like Barista, it is now inside a larger automation company. G2 cons emphasize a steep learning curve, time-consuming tuning and complex setup. See Aisera alternatives.
Pricing: Not published. Vendr reports a median contract of $108,225 a year (third-party estimate).
Rating: G2 4.4 (146 reviews).
4. Atomicwork
Best for: Teams that want AI-native ITSM and ESM with usage or outcome pricing.
Strengths: AI coworkers that resolve requests in Slack, Teams, email and a portal; ITSM, ITAM and analytics on all plans; a "bring your own platform" option that runs the AI workforce on ServiceNow or Jira Service Management with no platform fee.
Limitations: Professional covers up to 250 end users; larger companies move to Business, which has no published price. One G2 review.
Pricing: From $25,000 a year (Professional, 25,000 credits included); outcome pricing from $1 to $3 per outcome with annual minimums.
Rating: G2 4.0 (1 review).
5. Rezolve.ai
Best for: Organizations above 2,000 employees, which is the scope Rezolve states on its pricing page.
Strengths: Sidekick works in Teams, Slack, email, web and phone; eight foundational agents and a 50-agent marketplace come with every subscription; works with your existing ITSM or Rezolve's own. Rezolve claims about 70% of requests resolved before they become tickets (vendor claim).
Limitations: Scoped for large organizations; contracts typically run two to three years; implementation and migration are quoted separately.
Pricing: No amounts published. Per employee per month (AI for Employees), per fulfiller per month (AI for Technicians and AI-Native ITSM), and a fixed or per-run fee for autonomous agents.
Rating: G2 4.8 (38 reviews).
6. Freshservice with Freddy AI
Best for: Teams that want a full ITIL suite with an AI agent added.
Strengths: Freddy AI Agent in Teams, Slack and portals, Copilot for technicians, and Freddy AI Agent Studio (launched May 2026) for no-code agents. Published per-agent pricing.
Limitations: The AI agent sessions are included only in Enterprise (1,200 Freddy AI Agent sessions per year per license). G2 cons cite missing features and a learning curve. See Freshservice alternatives.
Pricing: $19, $49 and $99 per agent per month billed annually (Starter, Growth, Pro), Enterprise by quote; Freddy AI Copilot is a $29 add-on below Enterprise.
Rating: G2 4.6 (1,363 reviews).
7. ServiceNow ITSM
Best for: Large enterprises consolidating on one platform.
Strengths: Three packages (Foundation, Advanced, Prime) with Virtual Agent, Now Assist and Moveworks for ITSM included at each level; Prime adds AI agents for ITSM and an L1 service desk AI specialist.
Limitations: G2 reviewers most often cite a steep learning curve, high licensing and implementation costs and complex configuration. See top ServiceNow alternatives.
Pricing: Quote only.
Rating: G2 4.5 (1,989 reviews).
How to choose
- You want certainty on roadmap and a system of record: Harmony, Freshservice or ServiceNow.
- You keep ServiceNow and want an AI front door: Moveworks.
- You want outcome pricing: Atomicwork.
- 2,000+ employees and Microsoft-heavy: Rezolve.ai.
- Your Barista use was mostly IT automation: evaluate Resolve RITA against the list above.
Whatever you pick, export Barista's knowledge and conversation history first, map your top 20 request types to the new tool's actions, and run in one channel before switching everyone. The ITSM migration guide and AI-native vs. bolted-on ITSM cover the details.
How Harmony compares with Barista
Barista was built as a virtual agent for employee self-service, typically paired with a separate ITSM. Harmony combines the agent with the system of record (tickets, assets, applications, approvals), so a resolved request and its audit trail live in the same place. It can also run alongside ServiceNow or Freshservice while you migrate. At Fireblocks, Harmony agents processed 915 application access requests, and a third of 4,800+ employee conversations were resolved with no ticket, customer-reported figures published by Harmony.
This guide is written and maintained by Harmony, which is one of the vendors listed. Details about other products come from their public pages, listed under Sources, and were last checked in October 2026. If something is out of date, email us and we will fix it.
Frequently asked questions
Who owns Espressive now?
Resolve, an IT automation and orchestration company, announced on September 10, 2025 that it had acquired Espressive. espressive.com now redirects to resolve.io.
Is Espressive Barista still available?
Resolve has not published what happens to Barista. Its acquisition release says Espressive's conversational AI will be integrated into Resolve's RITA and Jarvis agents, and Resolve's homepage does not mention Barista. Ask Resolve directly about your contract.
What is Resolve RITA?
RITA is Resolve's AI agent that deflects, triages and resolves IT issues before they become tickets. It works in Teams and Slack and ships with five foundational workflows, including password resets, access requests and VPN troubleshooting.
What is the best Espressive alternative for a mid-market company?
For 200 to 1,000 employees, Harmony fits best: it resolves IT and HR requests in Slack and Teams and includes the system of record. Atomicwork and Freshservice with Freddy AI are the other mid-market options.
Were other Espressive competitors acquired too?
Yes. ServiceNow completed its acquisition of Moveworks on December 15, 2025, and Automation Anywhere acquired Aisera in November 2025.
