# HiBob AI in 2026: Bob's AI features for HR and how to automate IT around it

HiBob's Bob AI answers HR, payroll and benefits questions through Bob Companion and 12 agents. What it covers, pricing and how to automate IT from HiBob events.

HiBob's AI, called Bob AI, is built into the Bob HR platform and centered on Bob Companion, a natural-language interface that answers employees' HR policy, payroll and benefits questions and coordinates a set of agents for performance, learning, hiring, attendance, payroll, compensation and more. HiBob MCP brings Bob's permissioned people data, and actions such as checking leave balances and submitting time off, into ChatGPT and Claude, and a Slack version (Slackbot HCM) is in a controlled beta. HiBob does not publish prices. None of the Bob AI features HiBob describes provision accounts, apps or devices, so IT onboarding and offboarding run from HiBob lifecycle events in a separate tool.

## What Bob AI covers for employee self-service

HiBob's Bob AI page describes **Bob Companion** as "the central AI interface across Bob." For employees, its self-service Q&A answers HR policy questions, gives payroll and benefits information, surfaces company guidelines and guides people around the platform. Beyond self-service, Bob AI drafts emails, job descriptions, learning content and survey questions; summarizes performance reviews and survey responses; recaps 1:1s; and suggests feedback, goals and development actions.

HiBob is explicit about guardrails. Bob AI uses only the data a request needs, respects existing permissions, does not train models on customer data, has a zero data retention policy, and requires explicit user confirmation for every write action. HiBob also states that Bob AI is not an automated decision-making tool: it recommends, and people decide.

## The Bob agents

Bob Companion orchestrates twelve named agents. The ones employees and managers meet most often:

- **Payroll Agent:** explains payslips and surfaces payroll insights.
- **Attendance Agent:** improves time tracking accuracy and visibility.
- **Performance Agent:** summarizes review cycles and helps managers write reviews.
- **Learning and Development Agents:** recommend training, create courses and build personal development plans.
- **Hiring Agent:** creates job descriptions and supports evaluation and interviews.
- **Compensation Agent:** supports data-driven pay decisions.

The others cover skills frameworks, talent (goals, feedback and 1:1s), finance insights, surveys and recognition messages. In a June 2026 release HiBob said it has more than 150 AI agents embedded in departmental workflows, without naming them.

In September 2026, HiBob and The Josh Bersin Company announced **Galileo in Bob**, starting with agents for job architecture, compensation and performance management. These are aimed mainly at HR leaders and managers. HiBob says they arrive in Q3 2026, reach hundreds of customers by the end of 2026 and into Q1 2027, with full general availability in 2027.

## Bob in Slack, Teams and AI assistants

This is where HiBob has moved fastest in 2026, with most of it still rolling out:

- **HiBob MCP** connects AI tools to live Bob data. Each employee signs in with their own Bob account and Bob applies their current permissions: if someone cannot see or do it in Bob, they cannot do it through MCP. Supported tasks include checking leave balances, submitting time off, updating profile information, viewing reporting lines, and managing tasks and approvals. HiBob lists ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cursor as supported.
- **Slackbot HCM** puts Bob AI inside Slack. HiBob's June 2026 community post says it is "being rolled out gradually in a controlled beta," follows each employee's Bob permissions, and requires a Slack plan that supports Slack as an MCP client (it names Slack Enterprise). Eligible customers join through their customer success manager.
- **Microsoft Teams:** Bob's Teams app sends actionable notifications such as time-off requests for managers, company updates and kudos, and lets HR start onboarding. The listing does not mention AI answers in Teams.

## How HiBob AI is priced

HiBob does not publish prices on its website. Its pricing path is a demo request that asks for company size and the products you want (Core, Talent and Payroll Hub among them). The Bob AI and HiBob MCP pages do not say whether AI is included or sold as an add-on. Ask your HiBob account team whether Bob Companion, the agents, MCP and Slackbot HCM are in your plan.

## Where Bob AI stops

Bob AI is an HR assistant. Every capability HiBob lists is about people data and HR processes: answers, drafting, summaries, recommendations and HR actions such as time off and profile updates. None of it creates an identity account, grants access to an application, resets MFA, enrolls or recovers a laptop, or removes a departing employee from SaaS apps.

Bob's workflow engine does trigger structured onboarding automatically from lifecycle events, with role and location logic, cross-team tasks and approvals. Those are HR tasks assigned to people. For IT, a task saying "create Google account" still needs someone, or something, to do it.

## How HiBob events can trigger IT onboarding and offboarding

HiBob exposes lifecycle events through webhooks, which is what IT automation should listen to:

Lifecycle events fire when the entry takes effect, usually at midnight on the effective date. Plan the timing: onboarding work such as laptop orders needs to start well before employee.joined, and involuntary departures should use the immediate revocation event rather than wait for the effective date.

## Using Harmony with HiBob

Harmony is an AI service desk that resolves IT and HR requests in Slack and Microsoft Teams and runs the workflows behind them, with HiBob as the HR system of record.

**What the integration does.** The [Harmony HiBob integration](https://harmony.io/integrations/hibob) syncs employee records and custom fields, job titles, departments, employment type and dates, manager relationships and hierarchy, and position level. A new person in HiBob starts IT provisioning, a role or department change adjusts access and reroutes requests, and a termination revokes access and starts asset recovery. HiBob has retired service-user marketplace integrations, so new connections use [HiBob (OAuth)](https://harmony.io/integrations/hibob-oauth), which also lets Harmony submit and approve time-off requests and trigger onboarding or offboarding tasks in HiBob.

**Onboarding.** The [New Hire Onboarding](https://harmony.io/agents/new-hire-onboarding) agent starts 14 days before the start date by default and opens a parent ticket with linked tasks: laptop ordering, workstation setup and identity provider account creation with role-based groups, with approvals for hardware and software and a completion note to the manager.

**Offboarding.** The [Employee Offboarding](https://harmony.io/agents/employee-offboarding) agent detects the end date in HiBob, gathers assigned assets, and opens IT tasks (account termination, VPN removal, factory reset, asset return, ownership transfer, physical access) and HR tasks (exit interview, final payroll, benefits termination).

**Everyday requests.** In Slack or Teams, employees ask for an [MFA reset](https://harmony.io/agents/idp-mfa-reset), [application access](https://harmony.io/agents/application-access-request) or [time off](https://harmony.io/agents/pto-request) in one conversation. **How the two fit together.** Bob AI is the better tool for work inside HR: performance reviews, compensation guidance, surveys and payroll explanations. Harmony covers the requests that cross into IT and the Teams channel, where Bob's AI is not described today. Customer-reported figures published by Harmony: [Kith](https://harmony.io/customers/kith) resolves 57% of questions with no ticket, and [Mammoth Brands](https://harmony.io/customers/mammoth-brands) cut time to first response from 4 hours to 7 seconds. Harmony resolves up to 90% of routine requests.

**Pricing and ratings.** Each deployment is a [custom quote](https://harmony.io/pricing) scoped to company size and use, including the Slack and Teams agent, knowledge base generation, core integrations and support, and it is available through AWS Marketplace private offers. Harmony is rated 4.8 on G2 (80 reviews), Gartner Peer Insights (32) and Capterra (19).

**Limitations.** No published self-serve pricing; G2 reviewers ask for more flexible reporting and dashboard widgets; some integrations need extra setup steps; and Harmony was founded in 2025.
